Nine Hole Golf Scramble

Join us for fun golf every second Friday from May 1 to October 1.  These 9 hole events are best ball Team scramble so your bad shots can be neutralized by a fine shot by a team member.  Or as sometimes happens your bad shot may be the best shot for the team.  Although we keep scores, fun not scores is our priority.

And as a bonus, end of year trophies are awarded for a variety of categories.  Teams are changed regularly so no one is stuck playing with Mike Hart too often.

Eighteen Hole Golf

If you play golf, even just a little, then chances are you will enjoy joining us for 18 holes.  In addition to our 9-hole best ball games, we organize four, 18-hole golf games each summer followed by sandwiches and good times.  The focus is on fun and there is plenty of that.  Come as we tear up the fairways, have a good laugh and swap golfing stories at the 19th hole. Worried that you may not play well enough to join us? Then worry no more.  Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just an occasional duffer, you'll fit right in.  We welcome golfers of all levels.  There is no charge to belong to the group and no obligation to play every game.  You just pay your green fees and cart fee (if applicable) when you play.

Lunch Bunch

Please join us every third Thursday of the month for fellowship and fun over lunch.  We always choose an independent restaurant at a convenient location with ample parking and that can accommodate a group.  Location is announced at each Probus meeting along with the website and newsletter.

Contact Marion Philip or Bonnie Williams to sign up.

PROBUS Dinner Club

You are invited to join a Dinner Club, in which you take turns in a group hosting other PROBUS members at your house for lunch or dinner. The idea is to share a delicious home-cooked meal and get to know other members. It doesn’t matter if you are a couple or live alone, however we recommend pairing up with a partner if you are participating alone. We will form groups of six members and send out the lists by e-mail, designating the first “host” couple. Once the group is formed, the first host couple will communicate with their group members to agree on a date and time. At your first dinner your group can set your rules – how often to meet, menu themes, beverages, clean-up, foods to avoid, etc.

If you would like to join, please send your names, telephone, e-mail address, and food allergies to Dalia Taylor at taylor.dalia@gmail.com. Please respond by October 31, as we hope to send out group lists in early November.

A suggested format which has been used successfully in the past is as follows: the hosts prepare a main course (e.g. a roast, BBQ, a fish dish, a vegetarian dish, etc.) plus the accompanying beverages such as water, juice, wine, tea and coffee. The other members agree to bring an appetizer, a salad and/or vegetable, or a dessert. When the first dinner takes place, the group decides on the next hosts, time and date, and dishes to be brought.

Book Table

Members are encouraged to donate a book for sharing at our meetings.

Before our meetings begin or during break, members are encouraged to purchase books for $2.00 each from our Book Table of donated titles.
