April 1, 2026 Speaker -
Michael Newnham, Conductor of the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra
Topic: “WHAT DOES A CONDUCTOR DO?”
What a wonderful treat for Probus Peterborough to have Michael Newnham as our speaker on April 1st.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of attending a PSO performance will attest to how drawn-in one is to the magic of the music as a direct result of the intense and inspiring conducting of Michael. His presence is energetic, enthusiastic and meticulous. He is known for his intense and inspiring conducting style.
Michael will take us through a quick look at how a symphony or choral conductor communicates with his musicians. How decisions are made about what is important and what is less important. And, most importantly - how does a conductor demonstrate leadership?
This will be interesting, uplifting, light, informative and fascinating. Be sure to note the date in your calendars. It will be “music to your ears” to hear Michael Newnham as our speaker. 10am, April 1, 2026.
